President Mahinda Rajapaksa left for Uganda last night on a Four day official visit.

During the visit president Rajapaksa will hold bilateral talks with Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and will attend the opening ceremony of the commonwealth Local Government Conference.

President is also expected to make visits to the Masulita Vocational Training Center and the Sugar Corporation of Uganda.

Since the two countries established their Diplomatic relations in 1972, a former Ugandan president and a prime minister including the current president had visited Sri Lanka.

Uganda has continuously supported Sri Lanka where it voted against the resolution on Sri Lanka at the UNHRC in 2012 and 2013.
