MP’s office raided

DNA MP Sunil Handunetti’s office in Maharagama was raided by the police last night, party sources said.

According to sources the police had confiscated several bundles of posters. An attempt to arrest a party member was prevented by Mr. Handunetti who had protested against the move.

Meanwhile according to UNP party member Shiral Lakthilaka, family members of the owner of the office which is used as a pinting press have been taken in for questioning by the Mirihana Police.

The owner of the press who is at the UNP Headquarters ‘Sirikotha’ had said his wife and two bothers had been taken in for questioning as he was not present at home the time the police had arrived.

UNP MPs Karu Jayasuriya, Dayasiri Jayasekara and Mangala Samaraweera had visited the Mirihana Police and had urged for their release. (YP&MB)
