Moves to release lankan fishermen

Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry said that immediate steps have been taken in collaboration with the External Affairs Ministry and the Deputy Sri Lankan High Commission in Chennai, for the release of the 31 fishermen detained in Tamil Nadu.
 
Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry official told Daily Mirror Online at present some 31 fishermen and six fishing trawlers - to which includes the four fishing trawlers and 21 fishermen who were apprehended on Saturday night (21), are held in Tamil Nadu for straying in Indian Waters.

Meanwhile, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has requested all fishermen to strictly limit their activities to the Exclusive Economic Zone and not stray into the Indian waters. (Lakna Paranamanna)
