Discussions are ongoing to introduce amendments to Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance in order to bring in solutions to the better management of the elephant population in the country, the Wildlife Department said.

Wildlife Department Director Dr. Pathiraja speaking to Daily Mirror Online today said that the planned amendments will be introducing plans that would bring effective solutions to the human-elephant conflict and minimize adverse impacts caused as a result of the conflict.

“Though the amendments that are to be introduced we will also be relaxing certain laws and addressing several other current issues pertaining to wildlife conservation as well,” he added. (Lakna Parnamanna)
