Moves to counter cyber crimes

n a move to counter the increasing number of cyber crimes reported in the country, the Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry announced that amendments will be made to the Computer Crimes Act No. 24 of 2007.

Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya speaking to Daily Mirror Online today said that the number of cyber crimes reported with concern to Facebook and electronic transactions has increased over the past year. “The Justice Ministry is currently drafting the amendments in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team Coordination Centre and the Information and Communication Technology Agency.
