Rainy weather was predicted in most parts of the country including the drought-hit North Central Province due to the convergence conditions developing in the atmosphere.

The Meteorology Department said the winds coming from the two hemispheres were merging over Sri Lanka currently. It said cloudy conditions would prevail for few days while there would be heavy showers from time to time particularly in the South West part of the country, Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara Districts. In addition thunder showers were predicted in the North Central and Uva provinces.

Meanwhile the highest rain fall of 30.3 mm was recorded from Kirinidiwela in the Gampaha District while the hydro catchment areas received an average of 15mm rain during past 24 hours. (YP)
