A large number of nomination lists from the main political parties including the ruling UPFA and the main opposition UNP were rejected due to several errors.

In the Embilipitiya UC in the Ratnapura district the nomination lists of both the UPFA and the UNP had been rejected. In the Colombo district the UNP nomination list for the Homagama PS had been rejected.

In the Galle District the UPFA nomination list for Akmeemana PS, and the UNP nomination list for the Baddegama PS were rejected.

In the Moneragala District, nomination lists of the UPFA for the Moneragala PS and Siyambapalduwa PS had been rejected.

In the Kilinochchi district the TNA nomination lists for Poonekary PS and Pachchilaipalli PS had been rejected.

In the Kurunegala District the UPFA nomination list for Polgahawela PS was rejected. In the Kegalle district the UNP nomination papers had been rejected for Warakapola PS. In the Matale District the UPFA nomination lists for Wilgamuwa PS and Pallepola PS, JVP nomination list for Wilgamuwa PS and the SLMC list for Ukuwela PS had been rejected.

In the Kandy district the UPFA nomination list for Yatinuwara PS had been rejected as the name of the UPFA had been written omitting the word ‘freedom.’

In the Ratnapura district the UNP list for Weligepola PS had been rejected. In the Puttalam district the JVP nomination list for Nattandiya PS had been rejected.

Also the SLMC nomination lists for Akurana PS in the Kandy District and the UNP nomination list for Eravur UC in the Batticaloa District were rejected.
Most of these nominations lists were rejected due to a discrepancy in the number of candidates, translation errors, the nomination papers not being signed by an attesting commissioner etc.
