The police has requested those who have bought land or received cheques that have bounced from Sakvithi Ranasinghe, who is now in Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) custody, to come forward and lodge their complaints.

CID investigations have reveled that fraudster Sakvithi Ranasinghe, on several instances, had used forged deeds and documents to sell land to unsuspecting victims.

 

Those who want to contact the police regarding the suspect can contact the CID through a special telephone line set up for this purpose - 0112422176 or by visiting the CID office.

 

Ranasinghe is accused of swindling more than 1,000 million rupees and was arrested with his wife on August 6th following information provided by a Civil Defence Force officer. He and his wife had reportedly returned to the country from India two months ago. (Daily Mirror online)
