Election monitors met candidates contesting the General Elections re-poll in the Nawalapitiya electorate late last night and urged them to maintain normalcy in today’s polls, monitors said.

PAFFREL Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchi told Daily Mirror online that the monitors had met UPFA Candidates S.B. Dissanayaka, Mahindananda Aluthgamage and a few UNP candidates and also noted down their complaints regarding the polls. “None of the candidates had any serious complaints. The situation so far has been ok. We had a meeting with the candidates and also urged them to maintain the normalcy and allow the voters to cast their votes peacefully,” Hettiarachchi said.

When questioned if there had been any serious violations, Hettiarachchi said that the only complaints they had received were of election propaganda.
