Minor incidents reported so far

Election monitors say minor election related incidents were reported so far in several areas including Jaffna and Gampaha. The Centre for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE) said that there were more than 6 minor incidents reported during the early hours of this morning.


“A grenade exploded near the Jaffna mayor’s office in Nallur although no injuries were reported. Gampaha, Katana, Kotugoda, Divulapitiya and Ambalanmulla are some of the areas of reported violence. Some of the party officers have been attacked and fired at,” CAFFE Director Keerti Tennakoon told Daily Mirror online.

The Peoples Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) spokesperson Rohana Hettiarachchi also said there were no major incident this morning.
