The Democratic National Alliance (DNA) today informed the parliament that the relevant MPs had not yet been informed of the subjects coming under each Ministry and therefore opposition MPs would find it difficult to participate in a proper committee stage debates regarding the Budget.

The committee stage of the Budget starts today, and therefore opposition MPs would find it difficult to participate in a proper debate without knowing the subjects allocated to each ministry, DNA parliamentary group leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said

“We are yet to receive the gazette notification,” Mr. Dissanayake said.

After inquiring from his officials, Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa directed Chief Government Whip Dinesh Gunwardena to provide the MPs with the information they had requested for.

“The gazette notification is yet to be released so please do the needful,” he told Mr. Gunawardene. (KB/YP)
