Former UNP deputy leader Karu jayasuriya asked the government to clarify its position regarding the implementation of the LLRC recommendation as there were contradicting statements by Ministers.

“Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe assured that the Government would implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) in Geneva. However, Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva, Leader of the House and a member of the Sri Lanka delegation to the Human Rights Council has declared in an interview to a Sunday newspaper that the Government never agreed to implement the recommendations of the LLRC” Jayasuriya said.

He asked as to what the official stance of the government is. “Who is right? What is the Government’s correct official position on the LLRC report?” he asked.

Jayasuriya further went on to comment on the law and order situation of the country and urged all citizens to voice their discontent. “ It is time every right thinking citizen of this country lawfully express their discontent before the little law and order prevailing in the country is lost. Otherwise, the deafening silence of some, for their personal gain or otherwise, will be contributing to a rapidly deteriorating situation. They will be aiding and abetting in the early demise of the rule of law” he said.( Hafeel Farisz)
