Minister Athauda threatened

A UPFA Pradeshiya Sabha member and several of his supporters who threatened Senior Minister for Rural Affairs, Athauda Seneviratne at several occasions have been remanded after a police complaint was made by the Minister.

The PS member had threatened the Minister at several meetings he attended and had on one occasion visited the Minister’s office with several persons and acted violently before the police intervened, the police complaint stated.

Senior Minster Seneviratne told Daily Mirror online that the said PS member had been displeased after a different candidate had been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha. The Minister also said that the PS member had even threatened the member who was appointed as the Vice Chairman calling him to resign.

According to the Minister the suspects, who were arrested by the Police on Saturday evening, were now in remand custody. (Daily Mirror online)
