Military denies questioning

Military Spokesperson Major General Ubaya Medawala in response to the allegations that the army questioned LLRC commissioners visiting Mannar for not taking approval from the Ministry of Defence said that the army cannot and will not interfere with any commission that is been appointed by the President.

“How can we interfere in such matters, these are baseless allegations. Even the army is a large organization it doesn’t mean that we will interfere in such matters”, he said.

These allegations were leveled by We are Sri Lankans organization executive member and Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Udul Premaratne that the army has questioned LLRC commissioners for conducting hearings in Mannar without the approval of the Defence Ministry. (SD)
