Mervyn on war path

The latest controversy between Public Relations Minister Mervyn Silva and a group of Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha members took a new turn today with the Minister demanding the disciplinary action against them.

Responding to charges by Chairman of the PS Prasanna Ranaweera, who called a press conference to demand the government to oust the Minister from the Kelaniya electorate, the Minister said “calling a press conference a violation of the party so because of that the party should take disciplinary action against him and his henchmen, who took part at the conference.”

On Thursday at a specially arranged press conference Mr. Ranaweera accused Minister Silva for paving the way for the underworld activities in the Kelnaiya area. Out of 14 UPFA councilors, 12 joined the press conference.

Mr. Ranaweera also charged that he and some other councilors supported Minster Silva’s work betraying the public. “We are sorry we have to take the Minister’s side at that time, for the benefit of the Minister himself, because we had nothing to at that time giving support to the Minister.”

However, Minister Mervyn Silva he also said that he has prepared a file consisting all the evidence to prove the who is the real culprit. “I have enough evidence to prove that the Chairman for various type of illegal activities and will reveal more information against several other members as well,” the minister said.

“You should have a discipline in the party, otherwise, the same thing that UNP is currently going through will happen to our party as well,” the minister said.

He also requested the media personnel to report the truth about who ever the person without bias.
