MR gets report

The three member SLFP disciplinary committee, appointed to investigate the incident in which former Deputy Minister Mervyn Silva tied a Samurdhi officer to a tree, submitted a report to President Mahinda Rajapaksa today, sources said.

The committee, appointed by Party General Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena, completed the final report based on recorded statements from witnesses and a statement from Mervyn Silva.

The SLFP disciplinary committee is led by President’s Counsel Jayantha Weeresekara. Other members of the committee are Attorney N.M.Shaheed and Former Civil Servant Mahinda Samaresekara who is also the secretary of the committee.
