A mental heath act is being compiled and a draft document was handed over to Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, Angoda mental hospital Director Dr. Jayan Mendis told Daily Mirror online.

He said that the aim of the act is to protect mental patients in Sri Lanka with only one hospital, the Angoda hospital, capable of treating and taking care of mental patients in the country.

Dr. Jayan Mendis said that the draft document has now been sent to the legal draftsman by the Health Minister in order to formulate the new act. (Daily Mirror online)
