Adding to the list of UPFA defeats in budgets of local government bodies, the budget of the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha was defeated 11- 2 with the Chairman of the council hospitalised following an assault by a member of the gallery.

The Chairman was assaulted by a member of the gallery when the Chairman was walking outside to sort out a fisticuff between two members of the Sabha while the budget debate was on.

Thereafter, the Vice-Chairman had convened the council and called for a vote during which the budget presented by the government was defeated.
