Sri Lanka former Cricket Captain Marvan Attapattu has been appointed as Sri Lanka Cricket National Head Coach for a two-year term with immediate effect, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.

The Executive Committee of SLC unanimously approved the decision to appoint Mr. Attapattu according to the recommendations of the special committee appointed to select the National Head Coach.

SLC’s coach selection committee interviewed Atapattu, the interim head coach and one other remaining candidate on Tuesday before recommending Atapattu as their preferred choice to the executive committee.

Atapattu who was appointed head coach after Englishman Paul Farbrace suddenly left the job in April oversaw Sri Lanka’s record victory in England and helped Sri Lanka to a series triumph against Pakistan both in Test and ODI series.
