Video: Mangala meets Swaraj

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera met his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on Sunday.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin's tweet confirmed that the Sri Lankan minister said the nation sees India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a huge opportunity.

He had also said that the visit to India within 5 days of President's swearing-in shows the nation's priority, the tweet further said. Ahead of his visit, Sri Lanka released 15 Indian fishermen and now no Indian fishermen are in island nation's custody. The meeting between the two foreign ministers would be a first high-level discussion since new government was installed in Sri Lanka under the leadership of President Maithripala Sirisena. (ANI)
