Malinga becoms leading wicket-taker

Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga has become the highest wicket-taker in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history by taking 26 wickets in eleven matches in this series and 59 wickets in 37 matches in all the IPL tournaments since 2008.

In 2008 Sohail Tanvir the Pakistani batsman was the leading wicket taker and was playing from Rajasthan Royals finished the series with 22 wickets and his team Rajasthan Royals won the IPL tournament.

In 2009 RP Singh of Deccan Chargers was the leading wicket taker who picket up 23 wickets throughout the IPL season 2 and his team won the tournament.

Last year there was little different situation as Pragyan Ojha finished with leading wicket taker but his team was unable to win the tournament and Chennai Super won the tournament for their wonderful inspiring batting performances.

Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab skipper Adam Gilchrist has described Malinga as the most dangerous bowler in the ongoing  IPL T20 tournament.

“He (Malinga) has come of age. He is the most dangerous T20 bowler. He has a lethal yorker, slipping bouncer and a lot of variation in his bowling,” Gilchrist said.
