Male body found near school in Panadura

A body of a male was found in a car near a leading school in Panadura this morning, police said. The victim was identified as a 40-year-old resident in Nugegoda. The cause of death was determined as strangulation, following a Postmortem examination carried out by the District Court doctor in Panadura.

Investigations revealed that Devanarayana had been employed abroad and had returned to the country recently and that his wife was still employed aboard. His relatives who identified the body said he was suffering from diabetes and that he was not facing any personal problems as far as they knew.

The body found lying in the driving seat was leaning against the passenger seat. The Panadura Chief Magistrate Ruchira Weliwatta who conducted the preliminary inquiry ordered JMO Panadura Dr. P.B.Dassanayake whose report confirmed that the victim had been strangled to death.
