Major changes in top Army positions

Reporting the first major changes in the top ranks of the Sri Lanka Army in the recent times, six Major Generals in the Army including Jaffna Security Forces Commander Mahinda Hathurusinghe have been transferred with effect from January 1, 2014, military sources said.

Accordingly, Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe has been appointed as the Adjutant General (AG), Army Headquarters. SF Commander-Kilinochchi Major General Udaya Perera has been appointed as the SF Commander Jaffna. Adjutant General Major General Jagath Dias has been appointed as the SF Commander Mullaitivu, while Major General L.B.R.Mark will take over the post of Master-General of the Ordnance (MGO) at the Army Headquarters.

Military Secretary (MS) Major General S. Ranasinghe has been appointed as the SF Commander Kilinochchi and Major General D.A. Karunasekera will take over the post of Military Secretary at the Army Headquarters.

Meanwhile, five more Brigadiers have also been transferred with effect from next year. Brigadier C.K.Rajapaksa of the Directorate Army Benevolent Fund (DABF) -Army Headquarters has been appointed as the Officer Commandant Forward Maintenance Area (FMA)-North with effect from January 19, 2014.

Officer Commandant FMA-North Brigadier A.V Rupasinghe has been appointed as the DABF-Army Headquarters. Brigadier W. Kariyawasam Director of the Directorate of Army Quartering (DAQ) Army Headquarters has been appointed as the Officer Commandant FMA-Kilinochchi. Officer Commandant FMA-Kilinochchi Brigadier M Mudannayake has been appointed as the Directorate of Movement, Army Headquarters and will overlook duties of Commandant FMA-Kilinochchi. Brigadier V.A. Sudasinghe has been appointed as the DAQ, Army Headquarters.(Sunil Jayasiri)
