Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara have shaken hands with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Secretary Nishantha Ranatunga and have resolved their differences at a brief but amicable meeting last evening at SLC head office, sources said.

SLC President Jayantha Dharmadasa who acted as the mediator had called the two star cricketers to this special meeting held at his office following the SLC Annual General Meeting which was held yesterday at SLC premises.

Though the AGM is the biggest SLC event of the year that receives wide attention, this year’s AGM was a sober affair as there was no election. The annual election office bearers has been cancelled from this year under the changes to the sports law that were passed in parliament last year, which stipulates elections for national sports bodies every two years.

Ranatunga refused to give details of the meeting but confirmed that the meeting took place and that they had a discussion which helped them reach an understanding.

Sangakkara refused to comment.

Dharmadasa who had travelled to Singapore after the meeting was not available for comment.
