LTTE leader Prabhakaran’s father dies

The father of slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, Thiruvengadam Velupillai, passed away last night due to natural causes while in military protection. He was 86 years old at the time of his death, Army Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told Daily Mirror online.
He and his wife were under Army protection since last year and he was suffering from several illnesses over a period of time before he passed away, the military said.

Thiruvengadam Velupillai joined the government service which he served for 39 years as a clerk and eventually became a district lands officer. Thiruvengadam Velupillai and his wife Parvati were given army protection at their request after they were found in an IDP camp at the last stages of the war. 
Thiruvengadam has a daughter Vinothini Rajendran who has been living incognito in Canada, Toronto since 1997.   (DM online)
