The government will introduce constitutional reforms soon after the new parliament convenes on April 22 including the re-introduction of the Executive Committee system enabling all MPs to participate in decision making, Cabinet spokesman Prof. G.L. Peiris said.

He also said that former UNP members Johnston Fernando and Indika Bandaranaike will not lose their of their ministerial posts or Parliament memberships following their cross over and subsequent litigation in the Supreme Court according Attorney General Mohan Peiris.

“The government accepts the AG’s advice and considers both Mr. Fernando and Mr. Bandaranaike as MPs as well as ministers until current Parliament expires after the general election on April 8,” Prof. Peiris stressed.
