Two men charged with the murder of Oxford farmer Sameera Chandrasena in February have been remanded in custody for post-committal conferences next month.

Defence counsel for both men have until July 2 to decide whether they will file oral evidence applications, for a preliminary hearing of evidence ahead of a trial.

Otherwise, the Crown’s paperwork on the case has been filed with the courts and the defence and the case will go to a post-committal conference on July 6.

The men are jointly charged with arson of a house in Domain Road and murder of Chandrasena at Oxford on February 23.

They are Thuvan Prawash Sawal, 23, and Viraj Alahakoon, 33, a jeweller, both Sri Lankan-born and living in St Albans.

The body of Chandrasena, 28, was found after a suspicious fire at his rented home.(CCN)
