A Gloucester man arrested on suspicion of murder by police investigating the disappearance of a woman has been released without being charged.

Kokulavathani Mayuran, 31, originally from Sri Lanka, disappeared from the Coney Hill area on January 31 and was reported missing two days later.

Police had arrested a 31-year-old man on Saturday, but had later released him. "Following further investigation we believe this to be a missing person inquiry," Detective Supt. Simon Atkinson said." As a result the 31-year-old Gloucester man, who was arrested in connection with her disappearance, has been released without charge. "We are still extremely concerned for Kokulavathani's welfare and we would urge anyone who sees her or knows where she is to contact us immediately."

Ms. Mayuran was described as being about 5ft 4in tall with a heavy build. She was said to have long dark hair and it is thought she could have been wearing a long black coat.
