Video: Lankan caught with abortion tablets

The Airport Customs today arrested a 40-year-old Sri Lankan at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on charges of having possessed 250 abortion tablets, Customs Media Officer Leslie Gamini said.

He said the suspect had arrived from Chennai with the tablets worth Rs.1.5 million.

The tablets were founded hidden in his baggage. The suspect was arrested by alert Customs officials when they found him acting in a suspicious manner. The tablets were confiscated and fine of Rs.10,000 imposed. (Deepa Adikari)
