Lankan arrested on charges of killing wife

Hours after a Sri Lankan housemaid was found murdered in a villa in Arabian Ranches area, the Dubai Police have arrested her husband for the crime.

The husband, who was in Dubai on a visit visa, allegedly stabbed the victim because he suspected her of infidelity. The victim, who was in her 20s, was found stabbed to death and the police recovered the knife used in the crime.

Forensic reports showed that the victim was strangulated before she was stabbed. The police found that the deceased had been working at the villa for over a year. She was married and had two children in Sri Lanka.

The accused had come to the UAE several times on a visit visa. The police located him in Al Barsha and arrested him.

The man reportedly confessed to having murdered the victim, saying that he suspected her of having an affair. Earlier, she had told him that she had an affair and begged for forgiveness, the police said. (Khaleej Times)
