Newly appointed Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana and Democratic Governance, Tissa Karaliyedda today said his assuming duties on his post is yet to be decided.

Giving reasons for his sudden decision, he said his supporters had expressed their disappointment and opposition over his acceptance of the minister post offered by the new government.

“We never expected that we would be given minister posts in such ministries and subjects by the central committee of SLFP. I asked many villagers in Madawachchiya and all of them requested me not to accept the post,” Mr. Karaliyedda said.

He also said that he would honour the supporters’ decision.
