Kama fiasco referred to mediation board

In a case where a businessman and two bouncers, who were alleged to have been involved in assaulting a 21-year -old youth at the Kama-Colombo nightclub was referred to the Mediation Board by a Colombo Court.

When the case came up before the Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage both parties were ordered to appear before the mediation board.

The businessman and two bouncers of the Kama-Colombo Club were arrested by the Kollupitiya police for allegedly assaulting the 21-year-old youth within and outside the nightclub on July 6. The Colombo Fort Magistrate had issued an order prohibiting the businessman from entering the Kama Club where the alleged incident had taken place.

The businessman and two bouncers who were arrested in connection with incident were currently out on bail.

The Kollupitiya Police had informed Court that the Police had received reports of several other instances where assaults of a similar nature had been carried out by the night club’s security guards on the clubs patrons.

Further magisterial inquiry into the mater was fixed for November 27. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
