The JVP which kicked off its seminar series today said that ‘small groups of factionalists’ with no practical understanding could never create socialism in this country.

After the recent split, the JVP decided to have a series of seminars to educate the masses about the way forward for the party at this juncture.
Addressing the first seminar in Kurunegala, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said that a broad political movement with a practical knowledge on ground realities could only achieve socialism in the country.

Mr. Silva said that the capitalism had failed today with the unemployment rate soaring in the United States. He said that the government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa had adopted   neo-liberal economic policies and implemented them even more than the government of late President J.R. Jayewardene.

“Small groups of factionalists cannot do it with their mere set of slogans,” he said.

The General Secretary said that the JVP would give leadership to achieve socialism facing any possible challenge lying ahead. He outlined the significant political decisions. (Kelum Bandara)
