JVP challenges Wimal over Google boycott

Challenging the request made by government minister Wimal Weerawansa’s to stop consuming American products and to refrain from using Google, the JVP urged the government to abolish the defense pact signed with the USA and to impose an export embargo on that country.

JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath told a news conference today that the cabinet should implement these steps if it is genuinely confronting the resolution that had been brought by the US on Sri Lanka to the UN human rights council.

Mr. Hearth charged that the government is playing a “double game” as it had already assured the US and the international community that the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) proposals would be implemented. He also recalled that the LLRC was set up after a request made by the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. (Yohan Perera)
