The demand for Jewellery had seen a gradual increase due to the opening up of the markets in the Northern and Eastern Provinces where Tamil people are traditionally interested in investing in gold than any other community in the country, jewelers said today.

President of the Sri Lanka Jewelers Association K. Radhakrishnan told Daily Mirror that business could increase further in the future.

He said the opening up of the Northern and Eastern markets was a result for increase in their business.  However, he said the growth was not as much they expected.(KB)
