The main suspect known as “Jeena” who allegedly managed a brothel at a leading shopping complex in Colpetty was today ordered to be further remanded till February 1.

When the case came up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne, the main suspect Rosemary Felicia Perera alias Jeena was produced in Court by the prison authorities.

Filing a bail application on behalf of the suspect senior defense counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe PC alleged that police were fabricating stories from time to time. Defence counsel contended that his client had never fled the scene and told that she was on the fourth floor of the building when police were carrying out the raid.

Presenting several medical reports in court, counsel Jayantha Weerasinghe informed Court that his client was currently undergoing treatment at the prison hospital and had subjected to several medical treatments.

The anti-vice-squad of Walana police informed Court that the main suspect woman had fled the scene along with several other women who were at the brothel. “According to the report of the suspect’s telephone calls, the main suspect has accompanied with several other women,” police officer told Court.

The Magistrate Ms. Lanka Jayaratne observed that there was a possibility of absconding from Court by the suspect and ordered that the main suspect be further remanded till February 1. The Magistrate further directed the Prison Superintendent to provide necessary medical facilities to the suspect at the prison.
