Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has sought Centre’s help on moving a resolution on the UN calling for a probe into alleged war crimes during the final phase of the war, besides holding a referendum for a separate Tamil State in Sri Lanka.

The Chief Minister on Tuesday took up a host of crucial issues with Prime Minister Narendra Modi including the issues of Sri Lankan Tamils, the issue of fishermen of both countries and sought his prompt and positive response on them.

The key issues the Chief Minister brought to the table included the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils, the restoration of the traditional fishing rights of Tamil Nadu fishermen and the alleged harassment of TN fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Charging that Tamil Nadu was systematically ignored and discriminated by the previous UPA regime at the Centre, the Chief Minister told Modi that she was looking forward to that trend completely changing under his guidance. (Indian Express)
