Italy probe continues

A departmental probe is continuing regarding the alleged fraud of 13 million rupees that has taken place in the Sri Lankan Embassy in Italy, External Affairs Ministry sources told Daily Mirror online.

According to reports an audit team of the Sri Lankan External Affairs Ministry had detected the fraud of Euros 93,000 in the Sri Lankan Mission in
Italy.

 

The Sri Lanka Ambassador for Italy Hemantha Warnakulasuriya had claimed that he had received many calls from Sri Lankan’s regarding the bank rolling which had taken place at the mission and had carried out a sudden financial check.

 

During his investigations he had come upon the misappropriation of the funds and had notified the External Affairs Ministry regarding the fraud.  (Daily Mirror online)
