IP, SI and PC interdicted

Police Chief N.K. Illangakoon today interdicted an Inspector, a Sub Inspector and a constable of the Tambuttegama police on charges of neglecting their duty.
They are alleged to have purposely delayed the inquiries into a complaint of child abuse and had attempted to avoid arresting the suspects.

Later the aggrieved party made a complaint to the Child Protection Authority, which initiated inquiries and arrested the suspects.

A senior Anuradhapurapolice official said the PoliceChief had ordered the interdiction taking into accounta report submitted by the CID. He said a formal disciplinary inquiry would be held soon. (PushpakumaraJayaratne)
