The Mount Lavinia Magistrate today issued an arrest warrant for Sanjeewa Kumara, an aide of Sarath Fonseka for allegedly giving Rs.750 lakhs to Dhanuna Thillekaratne’s mother.

The CID however informed court that they have sought Interpol assistance to arrest the suspect as he had fled the country soon after the arrest of Mrs. Thillekaratne last month.

The CID, filing a report in court submitted that they also took charge of a defender jeep from Anoma Fonseka’s House at Queen’s Road as it was in this jeep that the suspect had transported the cash to Mrs. Tillekaratne which was in turn stored in a bank.

The CID said that the jeep belonged to the army and it had been purchased by Dhanuna Tillekaratne after tendering false documents to the Tender Board of the Army.
