Global police agency Interpol could be brought in to search for the flatmate of a Sri Lankan woman found dead in her home in mysterious circumstances.
Police are still investigating exactly what killed Achala Aracchchige, who it has been speculated could have had chemicals poured over her.

The 42-year-old was found dead in her Manama flat on March 1 and the man who shared the apartment with her left the country at around the same time. Kuwait-based Sri Lankan Ambassador C Wijeratne has been personally following up the case and has written to the Foreign Ministry requesting authorities to speed up the investigation into her death.

"Interpol will be brought in soon to search for the man who lived with this woman and left Bahrain immediately after the incident," he told the GDN.
"We have also requested a detailed inquiry into the case.

"I am surprised her body is still lying in the morgue as the case is still under investigation. We have requested the Bahrain police to get back to us with a full report."

A social worker, who has also been following up the case, said the authorities were still no closer to finding the cause of Ms Aracch- chige's death, who it is understood was living in Bahrain under a false name and passport.

"We are still trying to establish how the woman died, as some people say she apparently committed suicide and some say she was killed," he said.
"The case is still under investigation and there has been no results yet.

"Her body is lying in the morgue and we cannot repatriate until we get permission from the authorities."

Ms Aracchchige was living in Bahrain using the name Prelika Kumari Akmeemana Kumarage, but was known by the nickname Dilhani.
Her body was found by an Indian who lived in the same apartment, located behind Al Jazira Hotel.

It is understood that police want to interview the Sri Lankan who shared the apartment with Ms Aracchchige.

The pair are said to have been in a relationship and worked for the same company in Bahrain.

Ms Aracchchige's body remains in the Salmaniya Medical Complex mortuary awaiting repatriation.  (Gulf-Daily-News)
