Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said today that he would direct the Inspector General of Police to inquire into as to why JVP dissident MP Ajith Kumara was not allowed to visit the displaced families in the Menik Farm welfare village in Vavuniya.

The Speaker said that an MP should have access to information on any matter. He was making these remarks after Mr. Kumara raised a question of privilege saying that his privileges as a parliamentarian were breached by the denial of entry to these welfare villages. (Kelum Bandara and Yohan Perera)
