Investigations by the police in the area have found that the baby had succumbed to injuries of a beating by both mother and her lover and was buried on February 17 in the back garden of a house that the two suspects had moved into just 20 days ago.
The 51 year old male is the main suspect and has attempted to commit suicide while in police custody. He is currently being treated at the Thambutegama hospital. (KA)
