Indians arrested in Colombo

A group of Indians and three Nepalese were arrested from a lodge in Colombo this evening for staying in the country illegally. The 28 Indians and 3 Nepalese had paid 150, 000 Indian Rupees each for the trip to Sri Lanka, the Colombo Police Central Intelligence Crimes unit told Daily Mirror online.

I.P Nishanthna Jayawardena of the Crimes unit said that the foreigners aged between 21 and 35 years old, were residing at a lodge located in Pettah and had come to Sri Lanka after they had been given an assurance by an agent in India that they could proceed to Dubai from Sri Lanka to seek employment.

The Colombo Police Central Intelligence Crimes unit said that the foreigners will be produced in court tomorrow. (Daily Mirror online)
