Indian Foreign Minister 'quits'

Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna has resigned ahead of the Union cabinet reshuffle Indian TV news channels report. Krishna, a veteran Congress politician from Karnataka, was likely to be dropped or moved to another ministry during the reshuffle.

His performance as External Affairs Minister was considered average and analysts often pointed out that foreign policy was framed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his top advisors.

Senior ministers like Salman Khurshid, Kamal Nath, Ambika Soni or Anand Sharma may fill Krishna's post. The Cabinet reshuffle is expected at around 10am on Sunday before the Prime Minister leaves for Himachal Pradesh. (Hindusthan Times)
