More Indian fishermen netted

Another group of 24 Indian fishermen in 7 boats who were allegedly fishing in the Sri Lankan waters in the northern sea was apprehended by Lankan fishermen last evening, police said.

Accordingly, these fishermen were reportedly engaging in fishing in the Madagal sea close to Kankasanturai. They were immediately handed over to the ilawali police for further inquires, police said.

On Tuesday a group of 108 Indian fishermen, who were fishing in the Sri Lanka’s northern waters were apprehended by the Sri Lankan fishermen. Later, they were handed over to the police, who produced them before the Point Pedro District Court yesterday (16). The Court remanded the Indian fishermen till February 24 with the 18 fishing boats.
