An Indian expatriate and a Sri Lankan woman, both lovers, were arrested by officers from Khaitan Police Station for peddling in local and imported liquor.

This followed information security operatives received about their activities.

Sources said a team was formed to follow up their activities and an undercover agent sealed a deal with the suspects to deliver an unspecified quantity of local and imported gin. They were arrested during the delivery of the contraband, with 79 bottles of imported gin and 212 bottles of local brew in their possession.
Initial investigations revealed the two suspects are lovers and they have since been referred to the concerned authority for necessary action.

In another development, an Asian man was arrested at an undisclosed location for trading in drugs.
Acting on a tip-off, the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) formed a team tasked to put the suspect under surveillance.  After ascertaining his involvement in the illegal trade, the officers obtained a search and arrest warrant from the Public Prosecution and then raided the suspect’s apartment.

This led to the arrest of the Asian who had in his possession 260 grams of heroin and 300 narcotic pills.  He was referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action. (Arab Times)
