The JVP said today that India never supported Sri Lanka at any moment in its efforts to solve the national question. Speaking to the Daily Mirror online JVP leader Somawansha Amarasinghe said that it is this policy that the congress party government pursues to this day.

“India never supported Sri Lanka at any point of time as far as the national question is concerned from the time of the Premiership of Mrs Indira Ghandhi. She categorically pointed out that the national question of Sri Lanka must be managed with the interests of India safeguarded and it’s the same policy that is being continued by the current congress leadership” he said.

Amarasinghe went on to point out that this move would give India more bargaining power in terms of economic affairs. “This move gives India more bargaining power on both economic and other matters and this can be the reason of this decision” he said.

The Leader of the JVP further went on to state that they condemn any nation that supports this resolution and said it amounted to infringing on the sovereignty of the country.(By Hafeel Farisz)
