India instrumental in creating PCs – Envoy

India was instrumental in creating the Provincial Councils in Sri Lanka, the out going Consulate General in Jaffna V. Mahalingam said in a farewell speech in Jaffna yesterday.

“There is a Chief Minister and other Ministers holding different portfolios in the Northern Province.

“You cannot deny the fact that India is instrumental in creating a Provincial Council in the North that consists of eminent persons elected by you,” he said.

Indian Envoy Venkadasalam Mahalingam was speaking at a farewell reception held at Tilco Jaffna City Hotel, Jaffna on Sunday. (M. Roshanth)
