Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry today said that discussions are being held in collaboration with the External Affairs Ministry and the Deputy Sri Lankan High Commission in Chennai to release some 26 Lankan fishermen who are detained in Tamil Nadu at present for straying in Indian waters.

With the most recent incident occurring last Monday where some 16 fishermen along with three fishing trawlers were arrested by the Indian Coastguard, the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry urged fishermen to confine their fishing activities to the Exclusive Economic Zone without trespassing in Indian waters.
